A brief summary of some key topics
God is the Supreme Being Who has life within Himself and is the One, Holy, Righteous, Sovereign, Eternal, All Powerful, All Knowing, All Seeing, Loving, Merciful, Creator of all, Judge, Just, and as such whatever He does is right and good, and He always ultimately has the best in mind for us.
Jesus Christ is God's Son, 100% God, Savior, Eternal, Who came from Heaven and entered this world by the virgin birth and took upon Himself humanity becoming Perfect Man without becoming less than God, the God/Man, the Person Who offered Himself as the sacrifice for sin, died on the cross, and was bodily resurrected, Who has all authority and power, Who forgives and saves and is coming again to this world to judge and rule.
Because we all are sinners and are guilty before God and thus are already condemned, we have need of salvation. Salvation is received through no merit of our own but is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ the Savior. The conditions to salvation are repentance and faith in Him. Jesus likened it to being born again, and thus salvation occurs at the very moment in time that a person repents and receives Christ into their life by faith, which brings them into the family of God. The work of Jesus Christ as Savior is sufficient to save any and all who come to Him.
The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God and is our guide for all that we believe and practice.
The gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and arose bodily from the dead victorious over the grave, sin, and death. It is the power of God unto salvation for everyone that believes. Christians are charged with the responsibility to proclaim the gospel to the world and those who believe it will be saved, those who reject it will be lost.
Heaven and Hell
Heaven and hell are real places. When people leave this world they will spend eternity in one or the other place. Heaven is eternal bliss where by grace and mercy believers will be together with Jesus forever; hell is eternal condemnation and judgment where unbelievers will dwell in darkness and torment, alone and forgotten.
Salvation includes the hope and prospect of maturing in our relationship with Christ. By the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and His work within us, we are learning to love Jesus more and practice and obey all things that He has taught and commanded. Disciples are students and followers of Christ who are seeking to become more Christ-like by practical application and obedience to His Word.
Church is an assembly of baptized believers in Jesus Christ who gather to pray, give, go, worship, and serve. It is the body of Christ in this world doing God’s work together - His way to propagate the gospel, teach and train disciples, worship and serve God. Not only does it include all the redeemed but it is also local. Its members meet for encouragement, fellowship, observance of the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper, teaching and training, worship, prayer, and exercising their gifts to minister and proclaim the gospel throughout the world. Much maligned and misunderstood, it is nevertheless the means by which God is glorifying Himself and making Himself known.
